The CDC estimates that about 27 million American adults have osteoarthritis. It is the most common type of osteoarthritis. Many people are surprised to find out how little they knew about osteoarthritis prior to being diagnosed with the disease.

Osteoarthritis is mistakenly regarded as "minor pain" and "an old person's disease". People remember Grandma or Grandpa having trouble walking or getting up from a chair.
